Ingredients
- 1 lb ground lamb or beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
- 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs (like rosemary or parsley) for garnish
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Boil the potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper. Set aside.
- In a skillet, brown the ground meat. Add onion, garlic, carrots, and peas. Cook until softened. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and broth. Simmer until thickened.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes on top and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly. Garnish with fresh herbs.
